" We are all inherently hardwired to heal - we have an innate ability to overcome the effects of trauma and unleash the core aliveness we all possess. " -Diane Poole Heller

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.

I have some good news that I’d like to share with you…. healing from the impact of trauma and stressful life events is possible.

When we experience trauma or chronic stress, our bodies can get stuck in a fight, flight, freeze or fawn (please and appease) response. This “stuckness” can leave us dysregulated, meaning that we are unable to control or manage our emotional responses.

Dysregulation from trauma and chronic stress can show up in many ways including depression, anxiety, physical pain, and sexual dysfunction. It can also show up as:

  • Feeling that you’re not good enough or that something is wrong with you

  • Being triggered by people, places, activities, sounds, or emotions

  • Struggles with having healthy relationships

  • Reliving painful past experiences

  • Feeling anxious or fearful, and waiting for “the other shoe to drop”

  • Chronic muscular tension or feeling disconnected from your body

It’s exhausting to be stuck and you deserve to be free

I specialize in working with individuals struggling with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, chronic illness, and behavioral or relationship patterns that they can't seem to change. These symptoms are often the result of stressful, disruptive, or traumatic life experiences. Traditional talk therapy can be helpful in dealing with these symptoms, but sometimes it's not enough.

As a body-based or somatic therapist, I deeply believe that our brains and bodies have a natural ability to heal, and that distressing symptoms can be alleviated through use of therapeutic techniques which tap into our body's wisdom.

Somatic and brain-based therapies such as Somatic Experiencing, Brainspotting, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) can help you move from dysregulation to regulation through rewiring the brain’s neural pathways and by processing the trauma that is held in your body.

Insurance

I am in-network with Carefirst BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS). Please be sure to check to what your co-pay and/or deductible will be for outpatient mental health services.

If you do not have BCBS, other insurance companies may consider me an out-of-network provider and, if so, I am happy to provide a receipt that you can submit for reimbursement. I encourage you to call the number on the back of your insurance card to ask about your “out-of-network” benefits.

I look forward to connecting with you!
